Wild West Music Fest in Des Moines, Iowa

Des Moines, Iowa is one of my favorite towns. Great Midwestern feel, loads of sunshine, and home to one of my favorite pastors, Chris Magnell (who is in Iraq serving as an army chaplain). But this Fourth of July weekend, Des Moines will also host a Wild West Music Fest at festival park.

I undercovered information about this western-themed party in the Des Moines Register. According to that fine publication, "Guns and country music will be the theme of the first event." Although the event's homepage includes "rock, etc" as alternatives.

Tentative Details (from the 3/24 merchant meeting):
Proposed hours: 11-9 on Saturday, 11-6 on Sunday.
Headliner band to perform Saturday starting at 8pm. Regional touring acts on both days, and one "local" stage both days.
Fireworks planned for Saturday night.
Free admission for police, firemen and military, and we are discussing donating a percentage of gate.
12 and under free. Other tickets: $20 for weekend pass, $15 for Saturday only, and $10 for Sunday only. Discount tickets will be available in advance.
We are looking for rendezvous/civil war/pow wow and other exhibits/reenactors.
Music will include country, rock and other genres.
We are looking for crafters to occupy spaces on main street and in the guild hall. There will also be some merchant buildings available for sublease for this event. If you have a product line you'd like to sell, contact us and we'll get you in touch with a building owner to negotiate.
We are looking for sponsors for the event, or specific parts of it. For instance, "Fireworks sponsored by..." Premium sponsors can be included in advertising (media, posters, etc.).
More details to be posted. Mailing list for merchant/participants coming soon.
